I’ll never forget my first sunrise along Sanur’s beach path — the light comes up over Nusa Penida as the fishermen head out with their nets. Sanur Beach is such a central part of any holiday here, whether you’re getting up early for sunrise and a walk, or taking a boat out for snorkelling or fishing.
The beach is home to so many activities — riding bikes and jet skis, having coffee and cocktails, families splashing in the calm waters, couples relaxing on sun beds getting beachside massages. With the opening of Icon Mall right on the beach, it’s becoming more visitor-friendly than ever.
You’ll still have to run the gauntlet past the ladies from the market trying to get you into their shops — but that’s all part of the fun. Wander, eat, drink and enjoy. Sanur Beach is the centre of it all.

Be on the beach around 5:30–6:00 AM for the best sunrise in Bali. The light coming up over Nusa Penida is truly spectacular — worth every early alarm.

Rent bicycles to ride along the Sanur Beach path — 6 kilometres of beaches, resorts, cafes and ocean views to explore at your own pace.

Best Swimming
Head to the northern or central sections of the beach, protected by a reef and perfect for families with calm, shallow water safe for all ages.

Dining & Drinking
Enjoy fresh seafood at local warungs, or relax at beach clubs like the Byrds Nest. Catch happy hour at Tootsies Beach Bar for cold Bintangs with an ocean view.

Be adventurous and try kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding or kite surfing. Watersports operators line the beach and are easy to find.
