Segara Village walk in breakfast

Just waking up in Sanur is the perfect start to the day, but what if you need a good breakfast to absolutely top it off? The Segara Village walk in breakfast is for you!

Segara Village is one of the more upscale places to stay in Sanur, but if you would like a taste of luxury without the price tag, you can enjoy a walk-in breakfast at Segara Village. Most people who have not stayed at Segara Village in Sanur probably know it best as the home of the Byrd House Beach Club.

The grounds of the hotel are immaculate, with a really balanced feel created by big palms, frangipani trees, lagoon pools and Hindu statues dotted throughout the grounds.

Walk-in breakfast at Segara Village

Breakfast at Segara Village is served in the Byrd House with both outdoor and indoor seating options. Most of the seating is outdoor, while for those who like it a bit cooler, you can opt to sit in the air-conditioned area as well.

The outdoor breakfast area is dominated by the stunning roof, which was designed to look like a Byrd’s nest. Your best bet is to sit at the front, which gives you views of Sanur Beach and allows you to do some people watching as the Sanur Beach Path runs straight past it.

Ceiling and floor fans will keep you cool, and there are some blinds that the staff will pull down for you if the rising sun becomes too bright. Facing the other way, you look into the hotel grounds and over the pool area.

The Segara Village walk in breakfast is served buffet-style. The all you can eat Segara Village breakfast will cost you 250,000 IDR plus taxes.

What does this cost get you food-wise? It’s a typical standard hotel breakfast in Sanur featuring:

  • Automatic coffee machine
  • Variety of juices
  • Cereal, muesli and yoghurt
  • Egg station
  • Cold meats and cheeses
  • Breads and pastries
  • Bacon and sausage
  • Fresh fruit
  • Pancakes
  • Conjee

These items are standard every day at the buffet and are complemented by a rotation of Indonesian food in the 6 Bain Maries. You could find things such as Indonesian chicken, Nasi goreng, Cap Cay and numerous other Indonesian dishes.

We found that for the days we stayed that no two days were the same for the hot Indonesian food.

One thing this place is excellent for is bacon. Most resorts just give you 2 rashers at a time, Segara Village just piles it up in a warmer, and you can get as much as you like. It’s real pork bacon as well, not turkey or beef bacon, which they serve at some Sanur hotels and resorts.. It is separated from the other bain maries and located near the egg station.

If you are able, try the chocolate croissants. They were delicious and heated under a lamp so the chocolate was nice and gooey when you ate it.

Our opinion of the Segara Village breakfast buffet

So what did we think? First off, the food at breakfast was of good quality and tasty. The staff were friendly and very helpful with the food being topped up regularly while we were there. If anything was lacking, the staff noticed straight away and were quick to refill.

One thing that was noted by us was that the cheese and fresh fruit were in a close-topped fridge, which we have not seen a lot of in Sanur.

There were also some gluten-free options, as the bread is baked on site, and there were also some other sweet gluten-free breakfast options.

Is it worth 250,000IDR? We didn’t think so, to be honest. For that price, we expected a larger choice from a quality Sanur hotel. So don’t get us wrong, the food was good, but there wasn’t a lot of choice for a premium price.

You could also supplement some of the food by ordering from the menu at the Bird House breakfast, but this was at an added cost.

Would we go again for Segara Village Breakfast?

We would definitely stay at the Segara Village again, but we would not opt for breakfast if it were offered as an extra charge. There are plenty of places around the hotel that provide a lovely breakfast off the menu that may suit us a little better. In saying that, if it were included in our room, we would head on down and have a lazy breakfast before heading out for the day.
