How to get to the beach in Sanur

Unlike Bali’s popular western beaches like Kuta and Seminyak, Sanur’s coastline isn’t served by one main beachfront road. Instead, the beach is accessed through smaller streets and alleyways. Each leads to distinctly different parts of this 7km stretch of coastline.

If you are not staying in a beachfront hotel, it may not be clear how you can get to the beach. In this article, we will show you how to get to Sanur Beach from any location in Sanur

Here is how to find the beach in Sanur

JI Tirta Empul is at the far southern end of Sanur. It provides access to Mertasari Beach and the Mercure Hotel. It runs off Mertasari Street, which runs off JI Cemara.

JI Cemara is a few hundred meters north of the JI Tirta Empul beach access. If you are staying near the Prama Sanur Beach Resort at places like the Akana Hotel and the Segara Villas, this is your closest access point to Cemara Beach at Sanur Beach.

Jalan Danau Tamblingan, JI Poso, JI Cemara and JI Kusuma Sari meet at a roundabout. If you head down JI Kusuma Sari past the Artotel, Holiday Inn and The Intercontinental, you will arrive at Pantai Semawang on Sanur Beach.

Central Sanur has access to the beach

JI Duyung, a popular access point to Sanur Beach, is getting towards central Sanur. Many scooters park down here and tourists access the beach path for restaurants and warungs.

Beach access via Duyung and Batu Jimbar

JI Pantai Batu Jimbar is more of an alleyway than a street. It runs down beside the Maya Resort and Spa and provides access to the Parigata Resort and Spa. This one has no shops and there are no restaurants or warungs at the end near the beach, unlike some of the other beach access streets.

JI Pantai Kerang runs to the beach past several villas and the German Consulate, right in the heart of central Sanur. You will find a small market, public toilets and a car park where it meets the beach in Sanur.

Getting to the beach in Northern Sanur, Bali

One of the most popular means of entry to the beach is via JI Pantai Sindhu in North Sanur. This access point gives you access to the Baruna Beach Market, Byrd House Beach Club, Inna Sindhu Beach Hotel and more.

JI Segara Ayu leads down to Pantai Segara, only 150 meters further north than JI Pantai Sindu. This street provides access to the Segara Village Hotel and the Consulate of Norway.

In the far north of Sanur, Jl Hang Tuah runs off the Sanur Bypass Road near the popular Prime Plaza Hotel. This road used to run to the port of Sanur and joins the beach close to the end of the Sanur Beach Path.

All these beach access points are no longer than 200 meters, so they are easily walkable for people from the main areas of Sanur.

Things to do in Sanur

Things to do in Sanur and its content is created by two Australians Mark & Bec who have been to Sanur many times. We have enjoyed food and drink on the beach, we have sipped coffee on Jalan Danau Tamblingan. We have stayed in homestays and hotels in Sanur and made day trips to see the best of Bali. Not only that, but we aim to keep the information fresh by continuing to visit Sanur and getting first-hand information off our Balinese friends.
