I'm Bec, one half of Things To Do In Sanur. Funnily enough, I never really wanted to travel — it was Mark who talked me into my first trip, and I haven't looked back since. These days Sanur is the place we keep coming back to, and this site is where we share everything we've worked out over more than a decade of visits.
Mark and I are small-town Aussies from Gippsland in regional Victoria. We've been travelling together for over 26 years and have visited more than 45 countries, usually while working full-time jobs and often with our two daughters, Willow and Marley, in tow. We're budget travellers at heart — we'd rather spend wisely and travel more than splash out and travel less — and that shapes a lot of the advice on this site: where the value is, what's worth paying for in Sanur, and what isn't.
On this site I handle the editing and co-write most of what goes up — and the food is my department. If you want to know where to find the best breakfast in Sanur, which warung is worth the walk, or how to do the morning market properly, that's me. Mark does most of the reviews and the day-trip legwork; I make sure it all reads right and that we've actually eaten where we say to eat.
The food and the markets, mostly — plus the practical, good-value side of a Sanur trip. I'm the one up at dawn for the morning market and testing another café's breakfast so you don't have to. I care about value, so I'll always tell you where to get a great feed without the tourist markup.

We book and pay for most of what we review ourselves. Where a post includes an affiliate link, it's disclosed, and it never changes what we actually say about a hotel, a café or a day trip. If something wasn't good enough, we say so — I'm not going to send you to a breakfast spot I wouldn't go back to.
I've been featured in the media for how we travel. ABC News interviewed me in 2021 about our year travelling through Asia and Europe with the family, and The Expedition, a US family-travel publication run by a former Wall Street Journal travel editor, profiled me on budget and family travel. FeedSpot ranked Mark and me in their Top 70 Australian Family Travel Influencers for 2026, and together we've been part of Travel Massive, the global travel industry community, since 2015. We've also written for Klook on their own blog, about our Nusa Penida day trip from Sanur. We’ve also partnered with brands including Discovery Parks, who featured our family on their site.
