One of the most asked questions about Sanur, Bali, is about the weather. One scenario that often happens is you’ve just landed in Sanur at 2 PM during “dry season,” only to be greeted by a sudden downpour that clears up 30 minutes later, leaving behind perfect beach weather.
Great weather in Sanur, Bali, on holidays or vacations, is essential to people who only have the chance to get away for a few weeks a year.
I often hear people ask when the rainy and dry seasons are, what the temperatures will be like, if the humidity will be high, and whether it will rain in Sanur.
What is the weather like in Sanur?
Like everything, there is no such thing as perfect weather or a perfect time for tourists to visit Sanur that can guarantee no showers and long vacation days full of sunshine.

The location of Bali, Indonesia, is just 8 degrees south of the equator. This close location to the equator means it will be sunny for your holiday all year round, but like most things in life, nothing is completely guaranteed.
Bali is an island surrounded by the Indian Ocean, which keeps the expected temperature steady and provides a moderate breeze most days on your holiday. The ocean also contributes to Bali’s high humidity levels, which can make it slightly cloudy during the dry and wet seasons.
Due to its location in Southeast Asia, Bali experiences a monsoon climate. This means there are two distinct seasons:
- Wet Season (November-April): During this time in Sanur, winds bring moist air from the Indian Ocean, leading to increased rainfall and higher humidity.
- Dry Season (May-October): This season in Sanur has less precipitation, lower humidity, and generally sunnier skies. However, temperatures remain warm throughout the year.
The combination of these factors creates a tropical climate in Bali, where on some days, the temperature can be 24 °C, 25 °C, 29 °C, or even well above 30 °C while still being partly cloudy with a moderate breeze.

Here’s what happens in Sanur’s weather cycle:
- Morning Glory (6-10 AM): Usually the clearest, most predictable part of the day. The sun rises over the beach, and the air is crisp before the heat builds.
- Midday Mix (10 AM-2 PM): Temperature climbs to around 30°C, but the ocean breeze keeps things comfortable.
- Afternoon Drama (2-5 PM): This is when those famous quick showers might appear, especially during the “rainy season.” But unlike inland Bali, where rain can last for hours, Sanur’s showers rarely overstay their welcome.
What is our favourite season in Sanur?
Having travelled to Sanur Bali, Indonesia, in the dry and rainy season over the last 5 years, I can say that the temperatures seem slightly higher in Sanur during the dry season.

In saying this, there is no way of predicting the weather in Sanur Bali, and you can expect to get showers, rain, winds, and partly cloudy weather at any time of the year in Sanur.
On average, rain should come and go fairly quickly, with late afternoon showers being the most likely type of bad weather Sanur produces.

Should the weather prediction influence my plans?
I would not put off planning a visit to Bali just because of the time of year you have available. Precipitation comes and goes, and winds blow and stop in the high and low seasons.
You can look at the 10-day weather forecast, and it can say rain and showers. On a recent trip to Sanur in June, it said this most days, but it only really rained one day in the morning and a few times overnight. Book your trip to Bali and go; the weather will take care of itself.

How does the weather in Sanur affect our plans for a holiday in Sanur?
We usually have a small window to visit Sanur due to transiting through another country or taking time off from work, but the weather in Sanur does not influence when we go.
We have had rainy days in the past but usually use the time to pop into a little restaurant or cafe until the time passes and it is a great way to meet new people.
