Situated in Sanur on the East Coast of Bali, the Parigata Resort and Spa is an enclosed oasis for travellers seeking a relaxing escape. This boutique resort boasts a charming atmosphere, blending Balinese style with affordable Western comfort.

It is just a short walk from Sanur Beach and the main street. Parigata Resort offered the perfect location for our stay in Sanur.

During our stay, we stayed in a superior double room. The room was decorated in a traditional Balinese style and offered plenty of space for our stay. The room included:

Facilities and Services:

The resort’s rooms surround a large outdoor swimming pool surrounded by sun loungers. The pool has various depths to suit kids and adults and a waterfall up one end. It is a popular spot during the day, so grab a sunlounger early if you want to spend the day by the pool. Pool towels are available for your use.

For those seeking pampering, the on-site Lantana spa offers a variety of treatments including:

  • Body Massages
  • Body Scrubs
  • Manicure
  • Pedicure
  • Hair Wash
  • After Sun treatments

The one facility most hotels have these days that Parigata doesn’t have is a gym. If you want to work out or exercise, you can access the nearby Sanur Beach Path for walking, running, and biking, or the nearby Paradise Bali Gym.

The staff deserve special mention; their genuine warmth and attentiveness were exceptional throughout our stay.

Dining Experience:

While the resort doesn’t have multiple restaurants, it does offer a charming on-site restaurant serving delicious Balinese and Western cuisine. We did not eat there at night, but many people did, and it smelled fantastic.

The restaurant features signature nights, such as Satay nights, where you can have one of Bali’s most popular dishes. You can order food all day and evening.

That morning, we were able to choose from a set menu featuring an array of international cuisine at the Paragita Hotel and Resort. The resort offered four distinct breakfast options: Continental, American, Indonesian, and a healthy choice, all accompanied by coffee, fruit juice, and a fruit salad.

Location and Accessibility:

The location of Parigata Resort and Spa is ideal. It is wedged between the main street of Sanur, Jalan Danau Tamblingen, and the beach.

Although it doesn’t have beachfront or direct street access, the beach is a mere 200 metres away, perfect for catching sunrises or indulging in water sports. The resort is located down a beach access alleyway.

Taxis. Grab and local drivers are readily available for day trips and airport transfers to Ngurah Rai International Airport, which is approximately a 30-minute car ride away.

Activities and Entertainment:

The Parigata’s location provides opportunities for you to access live music on Jalan Tamblingen. Places like the White Lotus and Nesa Combi are known to have live music and happy hours weekly.

The hotel has a free pool table in the lobby, and when we stayed there, they organized a movie night in the restaurant area.

The concierge can suggest nearby activities, or you can book tours and attractions through websites such as Klook before you arrive in Bali.

The comfortable accommodations, which, to be honest, are a little dated but don’t affect your stay, and the friendly service made it a perfect choice for our Sanur holiday. The location, right by the beach and close to Sanur shops and restaurant offerings, provided the best of both worlds.

Pros:

  • Charming Balinese ambience
  • Comfortable and clean rooms with balconies
  • Inviting pool area
  • Attentive and friendly staff
  • Delicious on-site dining
  • Prime location near the beach and village

Cons:

  • Limited dining options within the resort (though various options are available nearby)
  • There is no on-site gym (fitness activities can be arranged in the surrounding area).

Best time to go to Bali

The best time to visit Sanur and other spots in Bali, Indonesia, is during the dry season, which runs from May to September. During this time, the weather is generally sunny with low humidity. It is perfect for outdoor activities such as walking, swimming, snorkelling, and reading a book while lying by the pool.

April and October shoulder seasons can also be good times to visit Sanur, as the weather is still pleasant but with fewer crowds. Pack your suitcase and book your flights for one of the best periods to visit attractions such as Bali Zoo, Waterbom and the Monkey Forest.

However, if you don’t mind the occasional rain shower, visiting Sanur during the wet season from October to March can also have advantages. The lush greenery and cooler temperatures can be refreshing, but ensure you have a waterproof bag and umbrella for your outings in case of a downpour.

It’s worth noting that Sanur in Bali is a popular tourist destination, and the peak season for tourism is from June to August. Planning your visit outside these months is best if you prefer to avoid crowds and higher prices.

Things to do in Sanur

Things to do in Sanur and its content is created by two Australians who have been to Sanur many times. We have enjoyed food and drink on the beach, we have sipped coffee on Jalan Danau Tamblingan. We have stayed in homestays and hotels in Sanur and made day trips to see the best of Bali. Not only that, but we aim to keep the information fresh by continuing to visit Sanur and getting first-hand information off our Balinese friends.
